For Standing Assistance
Choose a motor system with smooth lift motion and a remote that the user can reach from a seated position.
Motor Types
The motor system controls how the chair lifts, reclines, and supports daily use. Most RHHVVR oversized models focus on dual motor comfort for independent back and footrest control.
| Motor Type | How It Works | Best For | Tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single motor | Backrest and footrest move together from one control path. | Simple TV sitting, budget-focused buyers, lighter daily use. | Less custom positioning for sleeping or recovery. |
| Dual motor | Backrest and footrest adjust independently for lift, lounge, and lay-flat positions. | Seniors, recovery, naps, big-and-tall support, heat and massage models. | Usually costs more but gives better positioning. |
| Triple motor | Adds another powered motion zone, often for headrest or lumbar adjustment. | Premium comfort users who need more posture control. | More controls and higher price. |

Dual motor recliners are the safer starting point because the back and legs can be adjusted separately.
Pair dual motor control with a 25"-26" wide seat and up to 400 lbs support.
